OVERVIEW
AKON offers several industrial welding curtain rolls used to protect welders and bystanders from the dangers of arc welding. The welding bulk rolls come in lengths of 150′ to 300′. Simply unroll the PVC and cut it to your desired length. If that is not ideal, we can ship them with holes already punched and perforated to the lengths you want; then you can simply rip them apart by hand. Keep in mind that you can get welding strip door kits as well.
The Best Welding Bulk Rolls
Easy Install
Replacement welding strip bulk rolls are available with pre-punched mounting holes for a quick installation.
Welding Certified
AKON welding bulk PVC rolls are certified for welding operations with fire retardant ratings and some UV blocking properties.
Protects Welders
Welding strip curtains are ideal for protecting welders from arc flash and sparks that present a safety hazard.
Control Noise
The tinted PVC welding strips help protect your eyes from welding UV rays and reduce noise due to the thick PVC they are made from.
Welding Protection
Designed for Protection
The PVC welding curtain rolls are designed to block out the hazardous rays which are produced by welding processes. Each PVC welding curtain roll includes special additives which add a tint to the material and give it more flame resistance. The strips are designed for use in temperatures between 0°F to +150°F. They are extruded from a special PVC extruder and rolled up ready for you to install.
Welding Curtain Roll – Protection Chart
Above you can review the chart which outlines the protection values from the two most common tinted red and tinted bronze welding strips. Be assured that while all of our welding bulk rolls vary slightly in their performance, they all help reduce harmful UV rays. Please be aware that welding curtains do not replace welding helmets. Welding strip curtains are only made for incidental viewing of welding operations.
Dimensions
Hole Spacing
When selected, the welding strip bulk rolls come with holes punched every 2" (see example of 8" wide strip above). This allows the strips to fit the vast majority of strip curtain hardware on the market. Please note that you can also purchase the strips without any mounting holes. Some customers choose to punch their own mounting holes onsite. Loop style is also available for mounting to bars and tubes.
Strip Widths
The welding PVC rolls come in 8" wide x .080" thick rolls and 12" wide x .120" thick rolls. The 8″ wide strips are the most common and widely used. The 12" wide strips would be ideal for applications where there is heavy motorized traffic or when the welding strips needs to be taller than 10' in height.

Frequently Asked Questions
Welding strip curtain rolls provide an easy way to create dividers around welding areas. The material helps block sparks, reduce bright light, and keep nearby workers protected while still allowing in and out access to the area. Shops cut the strips to the length they need and hang them in minutes on existing hardware. These rolls work well for custom booth sizes or quick replacements. This FAQ explains how the material holds up, how to install it, and what environments it suits best.
Welding Strip Curtain Rolls – Frequently Asked Questions
What are welding strip curtain rolls used for?
Welding strip curtain rolls are used to supply continuous lengths of welding-grade PVC strip material, allowing you to create or replace strip curtains tailored to your welding bay size and layout.
What materials are available in welding strip curtain rolls?
They typically consist of flame-retardant, UV-stable welding-grade PVC strips, available in various thicknesses, widths, colours and overlaps to suit different welding protection requirements.
Are welding strip curtain rolls flame-resistant?
Yes, the PVC strips in these rolls are designed for industrial welding zones, meeting flame-retardant standards and resisting ignition from sparks and hot metal.
Do welding strip curtain rolls block UV and arc flash?
Yes, when made from tinted welding-grade PVC they help filter UV rays and arc flash from welding processes, protecting surrounding workers and equipment.
Can welding strip curtain rolls be customized?
Yes, you can cut rolls to specific lengths, choose widths, thicknesses and joining methods, and specify colour or transparency to match your zoning needs.
How are welding strip curtain rolls installed?
Installation involves mounting a header rail or bar, attaching cutting the roll to length, hanging strips with specified overlap and securing the ends for barrier effectiveness.
Do welding strip curtain rolls include clear vision strips?
Yes, many rolls include clear or lightly tinted PVC strips for sectional visibility, allowing supervision and light while maintaining protective coverage elsewhere.
Can welding strip curtain rolls be used outdoors?
Yes, if ordered with UV-resistant PVC and corrosion-resistant mounting hardware they are suitable for semi-outdoor fabrication or welding zones.
Do welding strip curtain rolls help reduce noise?
They assist by forming barrier zones which help isolate welding operations from adjacent work areas, improving acoustic comfort though not full soundproofing.
Are replacement strips and cuts available?
Yes, rolls can be cut to size on-site, and additional strips or mounting components are available to maintain or expand your strip curtain system.
Do welding strip curtain rolls support modular layouts?
Yes, you can use multiple rolls to cover large widths, create overlapping zones or integrate with curtain systems for flexible welding bay configurations.
Are welding strip curtain rolls compatible with ventilation systems?
Yes, they help define zones and work alongside ventilation or fume extraction systems by keeping welding zones contained and directing airflow.
How long do welding strip curtain rolls last?
With correct overlap, installation and maintenance they can last several years, depending on environment, traffic, and exposure to heat or spatter.
Do welding strip curtain rolls help with safety compliance?
Yes, they support industrial safety practices by enabling proper strip curtain installations that meet welding separation, arc flash and zoning requirements.
What sizes do welding strip curtain rolls come in?
Rolls commonly come in widths like 12 in, 24 in or 36 in and lengths from 25 ft to 100 ft or more. Custom widths and lengths may also be available.
Can welding strip curtain rolls protect adjacent equipment and personnel?
Yes, when correctly installed as strip curtains, they form barriers that shield nearby machines, tools and workers from welding spatter, heat and arc flash.
Are mounting hardware kits available for strip curtain rolls?
Yes, compatible mounting kits, header rails, clips and fasteners are offered so you can install your rolls quickly and maintain them easily.
Can welding strip curtain rolls be trimmed for custom openings?
Yes, the rolls are designed to be cut on-site or by the installer to fit doors, walkways or equipment openings, offering flexible layout adaptation.
Do welding strip curtain rolls integrate with other curtain systems?
Yes, they can complement vinyl or canvas welding curtains, mesh partitions or rigid frames to provide layered protection and access control in fabrication zones.
What are the advantages of welding strip curtain rolls compared to prefabricated curtain systems?
They offer cost savings, layout flexibility, on-site sizing, easy expansion and repair compared to pre-cut panels or fixed curtain systems.
