Factory Partitions and Dividers | Plastic Curtains

industrial factory divider curtains

OVERVIEW

Akon supplies industrial factory partitions, a physical barrier separating people from machines, odors, dust, temperatures, and private areas. The partitions can be installed quickly and are constructed from industrial-strength vinyl, which will endure harsh conditions and ripping. Factory plastic curtains are also a fraction of the cost of rigid walls and allow for rapid expansion or contraction of factory workspace.

Any Layout For Your Needs

Save Time and Money

Temperature Zoning

Create temperature zones for storing products at different temperatures or to create a more comfortable work environment.

Humidity Control

Effectively control humidity levels within your facility for food products or for better manufacturing processes.

Separate Tenants

Zone or lease out your warehouse to tenants who need to be kept separated due to their different operations.

Control Noise

Insulated curtains are also dual purpose noise control curtains due to the thick batting they are made from.

Quickly Divide and Partition Your Factory

An Overview of Factory Partition Uses

Separate People from Machines: Using a factory divider to protect your operators from dangerous machinery is not only important; OSHA also requires it. Akon will work with you to provide a curtain to keep your employees safe from machines that could potentially harm them.

Contain Odors – In some factories, odors from manufacturing or assembly processes can become a big nuisance. In these instances, a partition can be used which will contain and control the odor from floating around the facility or outside where residents might complain.

Contain Dust – It is not uncommon during production for dust to form and float around your plant. This dust can potentially harm equipment, human lungs, or at the very least make the entire facility dirty. Akon can suggest a solution which will keep this dust under control and keep your workers healthy and your factory clean.

Save on Heating Costs – If your factory has recently reduced its capacity and you now find yourself with a lot of unused floor space, you could use a Akon Factory Partition to save a substantial amount of money. You can achieve this saving by partitioning off unused areas of the factory with our curtain. You then effectively reduce the area that you have to heat (or cool for the summertime) which translates into big savings on your utility bills.

Ideas for seperating a fabric building structure

Movable Curtain - Suspended Track

The curtain track is suspended from above which is attached to the structure of the fabric building. The separation curtain can then roll side to side with ease to be removed almost completely out of the way.

Ideas for seperating a fabric building structure

Movable Curtain - Free Standing

The freestanding curtain track is suspended from below using vertical uprights. While this is a more expensive set up due to additional hardware it allows access above the curtain. Typically used when it is not ideal to support the curtain track from above.

Ideas for seperating a fabric building structure

Movable Curtain On Track - With Top Valance

Using either suspended curtain track or freestanding curtain track with the addition of a top valance. The curtain valance is used for additional separation in your fabric structure building. Usually ideal for temperature zoning or dust control. The bottom curtain opens and closes to allow access while the top is static.

Static Position Curtain - Full Coverage

With this configuration you have one large curtain that only attaches at the top. The curtain is static in position so that it does not open or close. This configuration most often times features and access point like a strip door, roll up door or a swinging door to allow access to both sides for people and forklifts.

Quick Access

Entry Options

If you are using larger static position curtain walls that will not roll side to side then using entry points is ideal. These openings allow people and product into the curtained area quickly and with little effort. The most common entry and exits are strip curtains, swinging doors or powered roll up doors. Strip doors being the most common and economical. Each version features a freestanding frame that anchors into the floor and seals to the curtain wall.

Flexible Factory Partition Walls

Future Flexibility Designed In

Unlink a traditional fixed wall, which is constructed from bricks, drywall, panels etc, the Akon industrial factory partitions are constructed from heavy duty vinyl. This vinyl has the following advantages.

  • A lot less expensive than fixed walls
  • Can be quickly installed without major construction
  • Can be modified AFTER it is installed
  • Can be taken down quickly once it is no longer needed

Keep Sensitive Areas Private – If you have sensitive materials, products, or equipment which you do not want visitors or employees seeing, then you can install a privacy curtain. The curtain will then keep prying eyes from seeing your secured areas.

There are applications where a fixed wall is not only too expensive, but it does not allow the company enough flexibility to take it down or change it should the need arise. The vinyl partitions do however offer this advantage. They can have doors, windows, slider tracks, and a host of other features added AFTER they are installed. This flexibility, coupled with their low initial investment makes them an ideal solution.

Easy Install

Industrial curtains come with grommets at the top making hanging the curtains quick and easy with or without the curtain track.

 Inexpensive

Industrial curtains are about 1/3rd of the cost of other separation methods such as rigid walls or panel systems and are easy to store.

Separate Workers

Industrial curtain walls are ideal for separating workers for welding, washing, packaging and many other operations.

Control Noise

Industrial curtains help reduce noise due to the thick PVC they are made from which makes for a more comfortable work environment.

Curtain Features

Clear Vision Panels

Vision panels can be added to allow for a clear line
of sight through the curtain. Standard vision panels
are 54" in height but can be made to any size.

Curtain Valances

A valance is made from the same material as the
lower curtain. They are used to seal the opening
above the curtain. This is generally the space from
the roof deck to the bottom of the joist or purlin.
They can be rectangular or follow the roof's slope.

Floor Sweeps

A floor sweep seals the open area between the
curtain and the floor. It attaches to the main
curtain by Velcro. They are 6″ tall and as wide
as the entire length of the curtain. These are
ideal for controlling dust, fumes, odors, and
other undesirable elements. They can also be
replaced in the future should the friction from
the floor wear them out.

bottom curtain anchor

Anchor Straps

Velcro straps hold your curtain in place for
a light breeze or power washing. These
anchors feature Velcro straps that loop
through a D-ring, which is anchored into the
cement floor. Typically spaced every 4'.

Seal Velcro

Seal Velcro, also known as adhesive Velcro, sticks
onto your curtain and can be installed in the field.
Please note that this is not ideal for cold
temperature applications or high-frequency use.

Chain Weights

If you have a slight breeze or are power washing
near the curtain, then we can add a galvanized
3/16" chain weight to the bottom of the curtain.

Connecting Curtains

Velcro

Velcro is used to connect curtain sections
together to form larger curtain walls. The
Velcro also serves as an access points for
larger curtains and makes them easier to
install.

Magnets

Seal magnets are an ideal way to attach curtains
to each other or adjacent steel walls and beams.
Best utilized in dusty areas that would clog up
Velcro.

Entry Options

Sewn-In Strip Doors

Strip doors that are sewn into the curtain are
Ideal for light foot traffic. This allows for quick
movement of people into and out of the
industrial curtains.

Free-Standing Strip Doors

For motorized traffic, a free-standing steel frame
strip door is ideal. The steel frame takes the
stress off of the curtain wall, ensuring longevity
and performance for motor traffic and high use.

Swinging Impact Doors

A free-standing industrial swinging door can
also be provided for access. Also known as
impact doors, these heavy-duty doors can
take a lot of abuse from carts, forklifts, or
heavy foot traffic. View Styles

Roll-Up Doors

Supported with a free-standing steel frame,
the power roll-up doors can be opened and
closed via remote from a forklift. Door
styles and prices vary based on the frequency
of opening and closing, speed requirements

See button below.

How to Measure

Width

  • Measure the distance that you are trying to cover
    • We will generally add 5% to this dimension to give your curtain proper drape.
    • When you receive your quote, the hardware width will be the actual width.

Height

  • Measure the distance from the floor to the mounting point
    • We will subtract 3" to account for the hardware to keep your curtain just off of the ground.
      • If you want the floor sweep option, we also subtract the 3". This will allow the floor sweep to lay slightly on the floor while the main curtain is just off of the floor.
      • If you have a sloped ceiling please provide us with the high point height and the low point height. We will assume it is a linear straight slope. More Info On Here On Slope Ceilings

Common Questions

What is the spacing from the bottom of the track to the top of the curtain?
Standard curtains have approximately 3.75 to 1″ of a gap from the bottom of the track to the top of the curtain.

Spacing from Track

What are the dimensions of the track?

Can the track be cut to size on site?
Yes, the track is made to be field cut on site using a hack saw or Sawzall.

How much width does the radius corner add to the length?
The radius corner is 24” diameter. The radius corner will add 2 feet to each dimension.
For example, if you have 120” of curtain track then a radius corner will be make the overall length of side “A” 120”+24”=144”

How does the track go together?
The track is modular in design and will arrive in pieces that have a simple bolt together design.

How close together do I need the track supports?
The track should be supported approximately every 5' with a track support. The farther apart the track supports, the greater the deflection. If you have a relatively short in height curtain then you could space the supports out a little farther. You will receive enough track supports with your order to achieve this 5' spacing.

Can I simply drill straight through the track and into the ceiling / structure?
Yes. This is called a flush mount install and is very common. Simply drill through the middle of the track and use a small wood screw, bolt, Tek screw...ect into your structure. Space the holes about every 3-5'.

How hard is it to install the industrial curtain track?
It is very easy. All of the components simply fit into each other and connect with set screws. The installation is very intuitive. If you have any difficulty simply call or email us and we will walk you through the process.

Will the track rust? Can it be used in wet environments?
The track is Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) which is often used to protect steel from corrosion in some of the harshest environments imaginable, yet it provides maintenance-free longevity for decades. The corrosion resistance of hot-dip galvanizing varies according to its surroundings but generally corrodes at a rate of 1/30 of bare steel in the same environment.
