Choose From Two Differnt Mounts
Curtain Track Style
Curtain track allows the insulated thermal patio enclosure curtains to fold up to the side. There are five different mounting styles that you can choose from to attach to your structure. The tracks can be mounted to the ceiling, wall face, or can even be suspended from above using threaded rod or chain. If choosing the curtain track style then there will be a small gap from the bottom of the track to the top of the curtain. To cover that gap AKON can supply a small 6" tall valance to drape over that gap for further temperature control.
Static Mount Style
If using the static mount style then you can attach the insulated thermal patio enclosure tarps directly to your structure. We place grommets every 18 inches so that you can use a fastener of your choice to mount the panels in a fixed position. Once the season is over, just like the curtain track option, you can take the insulated panels down and store them for the next season. If you need help choosing fasteners then this is a helpful guide.
Insulated Patio Encosure Options
Windows
Windows For Line of Sight
A clear PVC window can be added to your insulated covers to provide a line of sight outside and also let some light inside of the winter patio enclosure. You can specify the size of these windows and their locations. Please be aware that the windows are not insulated and the larger the windows are or the more of them that you have, will decrease the effectiveness of temperature control.
Curtain Track Style | Premium Fold
Premium Accordion Folding Insulated Curtain
If choosing curtain track style mount and you need a premium look with super clean edges then you can choose our accordion fold premium curtains. This model has sealed pockets to house the insulating batting which allows it to fold up in a more controlled manner. The appearance of this thermal outdoor curtain is also more aesthetically appealing due to the way that it is produced.
Curtain Track Style | Floor Sweep
Floor Engagement
If choosing curtain track style mount, then it is highly recommended that you also get the floor sweep. Cold air can get under a normal curtain that rests just above the floor. This reduces the effectiveness of the insulated patio tarps. Using a floor sweep to engage the floor prevents this issue by controlling the flow of air from one temperature zone to another. The sweep Velcro's onto the bottom of the curtain and hangs 6" below it. It can be replaced in the future or replaced with a taller or shorter sweep if you need to use the thermal patio enclosure curtains in another location with a different elevation.
R-Value Options
Temperature Control R-Values
You can choose from 2 different R-Values based on your needs. R-Value is the capacity of an insulating material to resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. The most common R-Value is R3 for patio and porch projects and it is easier to handle as its less bulky. If however you plan on installing your insulated porch and patio covers for long term you might consider the R6.
Frequently Asked Questions
Patios go unused all winter because heating open air just wastes energy and money. Insulated curtains trap warmth inside so a space heater can actually do its job instead of heating the whole neighborhood. Think of them like a puffy winter coat for the patio, with thick batting between vinyl layers that stops cold from sneaking through. Families keep using their outdoor spaces for grilling and hanging out instead of shutting everything down for months. This FAQ covers how well they hold heat, which insulation level fits different weather, and dealing with moisture inside.
Insulated Patio Enclosure Curtains – Frequently Asked Questions
What are insulated patio enclosure curtains used for?
Insulated patio enclosure curtains are used to convert patios, porches, and outdoor rooms into comfortable, temperature-controlled spaces. They help retain heat in the winter, reduce drafts, and block cold air, making outdoor areas usable year-round.
How do insulated patio curtains work?
Insulated curtains use multi-layered material with thermal padding designed to reduce heat loss and block cold air. When installed around your patio, they create a thermal barrier that stabilizes temperature and reduces outdoor exposure.
What materials are insulated curtains made from?
Insulated patio curtains are made from heavy-duty vinyl with built-in thermal insulation. The multilayer structure includes outer vinyl, insulating foam, and reinforced stitching for durability and weather resistance.
Are insulated patio curtains weather-resistant?

Outer Layers
The outer layers of our insulated curtains are made of 18 oz vinyl which is reinforced with a polyester scrim. It is waterproof fabric that is easy to wash down should it become dirty. The material will not absorb liquids and stains so it will look great for many years. 18 oz coated vinyl is ideal for outdoors for temperatures going as low as -20° F or -28° C.

Inner Batting
The inside insulation is a poly fiber insulation that does not use fiberglass. The material is wedged inside of the skins and stitched in place so that it will not settle towards the bottom. The insulated thermal garage curtains get their insulating properties from the air space that this batting creates.
